Finding Your Side Hustle

Side hustles can be a great way to generate extra income and relieve some financial stress.

The idea of having a side hustle or side job has been around for a long time, but with the jump in the gig economy, side hustles have become increasingly popular.

According to Side Hustle Nation, the three most popular side hustles over the past year have been blogging, freelance service businesses, and e-commerce. These are all great examples of side hustles, but there are hundreds. See our list below of sixteen side hustles that you could easily start from home.

  1. Deliver food with a delivery service. You can use services like Postmates, Uber Eats, DoorDash, or GrubHub

  2. Start a blog! We all have knowledge or expertise in some area of life, so share it! Eventually, you can monetize your blog content.

  3. Walk dogs or pet-sit. What’s better than making money for hanging out with furry friends? Look into Wag and PetSitter

  4. Sell on Shopify. Shopify is an easy-to-use eCommerce website. This is a great way to start selling your products.

  5. Become a driver. Driving using platforms like Uber and Lyft can be very lucrative.

  6. Become a freelance writer. Freelance writing is a big field, and there’s always a need! Writing blogs, website copy, emails, or articles is a great way to put your writing skills to work.

  7. Work as a virtual assistant. Virtual assistants are always needed!

  8. Complete online surveys. This isn’t the most lucrative option on the list, but is definitely one of the easiest. There are plenty of websites online that will pay you for your opinion!

  9. Host an Airbnb. Renting out your home or apartment through Airbnb brings in an average of about $900/month — that’s enough to cover some of your mortgage, rent, or even a vacation.

  10. Rent out your car. The Turo app allows you to rent out your car for some extra cash.

  11. Become a freelance artist. Do you paint? Sing? Write poetry? Do makeup? Whatever art form you're passionate about, there’s a way to monetize it!

  12. Tutor online. You can become a tutor using platforms like WyzAnt and VIPKid

  13. Become a brand ambassador. Many brands search out ambassadors to promote their brand to the public, and pay pretty well for the promotion! DM your favorite brand or check out BrandSnob to get started.

  14. Start a cooking or baking service. Are you good at cooking or baking? Start making dishes to sell to your community!

  15. Start modeling. There are all types of modeling gigs out there, and with the way the industry is changing, diversity is becoming a must-have in campaigns.

  16. Engage in translation/interpretation services. Do you speak more than one language? If so, put that ability to work!

Side hustles are not only a great way to bring in some extra income, but they also offer you the opportunity to pursue something you’re passionate about. Surveys have shown that around 50% of people are passionate about their full-time positions, but almost 80% of people are passionate about their side hustles.

Let your passions come to light after hours and rake in the bread while you’re doing it!
